I have a background in Commercial and Conveyancing law with particular emphasis in the area of Property Law, more specifically in the review and registration of various commercial and conveyancing instruments and Banking securities including preparation of charges, Mortgages, Guarantees. Leases, Debentures and General commercial Agreements. Further, I have handled the preparation of Joint venture Agreements that govern business undertakings between two parties. My experience in the field of commercial and corporate law includes but is not limited to the incorporation and registration of companies, trusts, societies and business names as well as preparing complex legal opinions on various commercial and corporate law matters. I also have wide experience in matters relating to property and real estate law including drafting and reviewing of transfer documents, short term and long term leases, tenancy agreements, assignments, extension of Government Leases and change of user, sub-division and consolidation of titles.

I currently serve in the Conveyancing department owing to my proficiency in completion of divergent transfer and security processes.

Key Practice Areas

My key area of practice is Commercial Law. To this end, I possess vast experience in a variety of commercial, corporate and conveyancing transactions, which mostly include preparation of joint venture agreements to govern international and national business transactions. I have rendered legal opinions on diverse areas of the law. I possess practical experience in the drafting of leases, charges to secure borrowings by companies as well as by individuals, debentures for corporate financing, general assignments of rights between parties, preparing and filling of Company resolutions, chattel mortgages, incorporation of companies among others.

Further, I have vast exposure to commercial litigation and election petitions. I have a passion for Intellectual Property Law and Public Procurement and Election petitions.

In addition to execution of legal work, I extensively research on emerging areas of law and identify the loopholes inherent in the legal framework, some of which article have been published in leading journals.

When not offering legal services to the legally challenged I travel around the country and appreciate the different cultures. I also take time off my busy legal work execution to appreciate the diverse music genres.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Head Micro Credit Unit – In addition to my legal role, I am also the Head of the Micro Credit Unit. This is a specialized Client Service team that serves the legal issues that address the specific needs of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in the firm. To this end, I am mandated to ensure that the firm provides quality legal services to financial institutions that provide credit facilities to SMEs.

My key practice areas include preparation of pleadings such as legal opinions, memorandum of appeals, winding up petitions, election petitions, statement of defence, submissions, a case preparation, client interview and general research among others.

I am also engaged in the preparation of documents for different courts such as the Industrial court, the Public Procurement Review and Administrative Board, the Business Premises Rent Tribunal (BPRT).

The interface between corporate law governance and general commercial practice has always fascinated me and to that extent I apply myself fully to getting new insights through research. As a person, I cherish charity and community service. When not doing legal work execution, I prefer fun activities like socializing, making friends, watching soccer, laughing or making people laugh.

I am an Associate of the firm in the Litigation & Arbitration Department. I studied law in the University of Nairobi and graduated with Honours (Second Class Upper Division). I did my Post Graduate Diploma at the Kenya School of Law.

Key Practice Areas;

I currently practice and have acquired speciality in Litigation, Commercial, Civil, Criminal Business, Corporate, finance litigation, Appellate Practice, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Judicial Review, Election Petitions; Probate & Succession. I also have in-depth legal research and opinion drafting skills among others.

Other Responsibilities;

I am the Litigation Unit Secretary. My role is to provide support to the Unit Leader, the Director of Litigation & Arbitration to actualize Unit goals and objectives in work execution, marketing and systems/processes as well as providing general support to the Unit members in performance and/ or execution of their roles.

I also work under NAILIT Systems Limited a strategic governance body established in the Litigation Unit to provide the necessary systems and /or processes that indicate ‘how-to’ in their everyday work experience and the systems within which the team members operate from in performance of their roles.

I have acquired a wide and in-depth experience in both civil and criminal litigation, admiralty matters, constitutional matters, judicial review matters and generally in the areas of public interest litigation. I recently joined the firm as a commercial and conveyance lawyer. Though radically different from litigation, it is an interesting area of the law and a good change from litigation for me. I have experience with a variety of transactions, documents and instruments some of which include preparation of Partnership Deeds; Memorandum and Articles of Association; Trademark registration documents; Sale Agreements; Charges, discharge of charge and transfers; Statutory incorporation forms, statutory notices, Shareholder Agreements, etc. I have also researched and prepared opinions and advised Clients on a variety of issues from intellectual property law, to public procurement, general contract law and labour law among others.

Key Areas of Experience

All this is bolstered by previous experience in litigation with the requisite familiarity of the courts, court practice and procedure which has inculcated a keen eye for potentially litigious situations and loopholes. This, together with other prior experience in research and collation of data, ensures that I achieve a well-rounded approach to all transactions and advice to our Clients and I'm able to isolate trouble issues and give viable cross-cutting solutions. Further to this I have a passion and keen interest for Intellectual Property Law with specific focus/bias for Media and Entertainment law, an area that is growing in leaps and bounds in Kenya today. While not attending to legal work, I am an avid participant of the Arts with heavy involvement in the Theatrical Arts and Film and enjoy leisurely reading in all areas of interest
